Someone asked me, after seeing this photo, what sorcery I used to get four Dachshunds to sit still like this. The answer – polony.
It took quite a few attempts to get them all to stay on the suitcase and then look at the camera at the same time. Mom and Dad were either side of the camera waving the treat bowl and calling the dogs. The photos I take very rarely give you an idea of the chaos going on behind the scenes.
The shoot didn’t just involve Sausage Dogs, I also photographed another three slightly larger hounds.
As there were 9 dogs, I went to their house for the shoot and used a portable studio set up. Dogs are often more comfortable in their own environment especially when there are quite a few. I work with my clients to determine what’s best for them in terms of shoot locations, my goal is a set of photos that make the dog owners happy.
