Meet the Cross family, very old (I’ve know Sian since I was 11) and dear friends of mine, photographed during my recent trip to the UK. It really was as cold as it looks, so we started the shoot with some indoor portraits before braving the cold.
Baby Sophia was 8 weeks old when we took these photos and her older sister Ella posed beautifully for some photos with her.
I love Sophia’s ‘thumbs up’ in this photo, clearly she approves of being kissed by her sister.
I haven’t been back to the UK at Christmas time for ages, so I had totally forgotten how late it gets light (8.15am) and how early it gets dark in December (3.15pm). I’m used to scheduling photos in SA around early morning and late afternoon, whereas a British winter allows for a 12pm shoot.
After we’d shot some pictures of the children, we wrapped up and went for a bracing walk with Henry the dog. It wouldn’t be an Emma O’Brien shoot without a dog, let’s face it, LOL.
Ella wasn’t too keen on posing for photos, so candid shots were the order of the day. Doesn’t she look sweet in her matching hat and scarf?
After we’d wrapped up the shoot, we headed back home for some mince pies and tea. How very British.
I will be opening up UK shoot dates for 2017 soon, so if you’re interested in booking a shoot, please contact me for more info.
