I was commissioned by Olivia and Nabil to do a couple portrait shoot for them just before they celebrated their third wedding anniversary because they hadn’t had any pics taken professionally since their wedding. Can you relate? Our first scheduled shoot date had to be cancelled due to the sudden arrival of a thunderstorm, so this was round two. Olivia told me that every time they’ve had professional photos taken, it’s rained (including on their wedding day) so hopefully we’ve broken that streak of bad luck.
We shot at Delta Park late-ish in the afternoon, but not so late that we had to worry about another thunderstorm.
I’m quite the fan of backlighting my work, which requires the use of a large reflector that acts like a wind sail when there is a breeze, so these shots were interspersed with giggles as I tried to control my equipment.
There are lots of spots at Delta with beautiful big trees and long grass, so we made the most of the environment with the shots. There was quite a bit of wading through waist high grass and avoiding hidden patches of mud, but it was all worth it.
This pair have two dogs, but I couldn’t persuade them to bring them this time, so I’m sure we’ll have a follow up shoot including the hounds. It’s be absolute chaos I have no doubt.
