Meet the Watsons, my favourite family to photograph when I’m in the UK.
I’ve known this bunch since 2008 and we take photos every time I visit the Milton Keynes area, it’s been quite something to watch the kids grow up and to be able to document the changes over the years.
We took these photos on a freezing cold day at Milton Keynes Theatre district, so it was a pretty quick shoot otherwise hypothermia might have set in. The kids were bribed with dessert and Mom was bribed with the promise of red wine once we finished.
Their last shoot had a casual look to it (they in fact looked like they were sponsored by Jack Wills) and a more rural location, so we decided to change it up for the 2017 family portrait shoot with more formal outfits and a city feel to the pictures. You can see their 2016 family shoot here.
I love to use colourful backgrounds in my family portrait shoots and there are currently plenty around the theatre area which I made good use of. I shoot with a view to images being displayed on walls, so the patterns and colours were perfect.
A quick change of tops and a more neutral background gave us a totally different looking set of portraits.
But I still think the red is my favourite.
