Meet Mason, who was wide awake throughout his newborn portrait shoot. I actually like to photograph babies when their eyes are open, the shots have so much more variety than sleeping baby portraits, however the one snag is that they also wriggle and intermittently cry.
This little guy was pretty cooperative throughout his shoot, he had to be fed a couple of times (totally normal) and other than some momentary tears, he wore hats and was folded into a suitcase without much resistance.
Tyson and Maggie the family dogs featured in the shoot (dogs in a baby shoot just for a change, LOL) and were very curious to see what their new baby was up to.
The dogs also starred in Mom and Dad’s maternity shoot – click here to see more of their gorgeousness.
This is always a bit of a dangerous pose for whoever has the business end of a baby, Mason didn’t wee on his Dad here, he waited until the as holding him like this….
Clearly I took too long to get the photos done and bored the pants off our newborn model.
I like to have newborn shoots wrapped up in 90 minutes to two hours, small people get over stimulated very quickly so it’s important not to push them to the point of irritation. This guy wasn’t bothered in the slightest as you can see.
Babies and dogs are my ‘thing’ so please do get in touch with me if you have either that you’d like portraits of.
