This set of pregnancy and baby shoots was a ton of fun. The maternity shoot featured Mom and Dad’s two cheeky Sausage Dogs Dexter and Lola who did their best to steal the show, but their unwillingness to be in one place at the same time meant I was able to get some pics of just Mom and Dad too.
I encourage my clients to be creative with props, but if you’ve read through some of my previous posts, you’ll know that I don’t have much luck with balloons. We got this shot and one or two others before the balloons popped one by one in quick succession.
We shot the pregnancy photos at the Field & Study Centre in Parkmore on a day with very funny weather. One minute it was overcast and spitting rain, the next the sun shone which was a little challenging from a lighting perspective, but thankfully we got the shoot wrapped up before the clouds rolled in and the heavens opened.
The baby shoot also featured the two four legged rascals who very much enjoyed sitting on my white fluffy baby blanket, keeping it warm for their new sister in between shots.
Baby Taylor was 6 days old when we took this pics and stayed awake for the duration of the shoot until the very end when she fell asleep and we were able to pose her with the pooches (scroll to the bottom for that pic).
It took a few attempts to get our tiny star to settle long enough to take photos, so the dogs were more than happy to keep me busy whilst she was fed and soothed.
Then she peed on her Dad.
I like to work in client’s homes for newborn shoots, everything is on hand and new parents are generally more relaxed at home. It also makes sense when there are four legged creatures included to be where they are most comfortable too.
Dexter and Lola were still getting used to their new sister, so we took this photo quickly and with very close supervision of the three babies. It took several attempts to put Taylor down without her crying and without the dogs moving, but eventually we got it.
