Gorgeous rescue dog photos to put a smile on your face.
Happiness is a smiling pup and what would make these pooches smile even more (if that’s possible) is a forever home. I spent an afternoon at Barking Mad recently photographing a few of the dogs that they have at the centre. By a few, I mean I photographed 34 dogs which is a fraction of the total in their care.
Theoretically, Barking Mad isn’t a shelter, it’s a rehabilitation centre for misunderstood dogs who have behavioural issues. Dogs are often sent to Barking Mad from other shelters to have their behavioural needs assessed and corrected so they can be rehomed successfully. However, due to over flowing shelters throughout Gauteng, Barking Mad has opened their doors to regular dogs in need too, so many of the dogs at the centre are happy, family friendly and ready for adoption.
The dogs I photographed ranged in size from Jack Russell to German Shepherd and they were all very well behaved and sat patiently for their portraits to be taken. Please enjoy the slideshow of dog photos below.
Encouraging people to adopt rather than buy dogs is something I’m very passionate about. Hence volunteering my time to go and photograph shelter dogs like these and sharing the images. If you’re not in a position to adopt a dog and you’d like to help these dogs, Barking Mad offer a sponsorship option for some of their dogs, click here to find out more. You can also click here to feed a dog.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post and look at the dogs, I hope their cheery faces added some sparkle to your day. If you have adopted a dog, I’d love to hear about them in the comments below.
