Meet the most stylish family in town! I last photographed these guys in November 2014, and we took pics at the Field & Study Centre which is a very natural setting, so for a complete change of scenery and totally different photos, we headed to Maboneng to update their family portraits.
Mom did a brilliant job of coordinating their outfits so the colours toned together, but they weren’t matching, which made for some very cool family photographs. Maboneng has some great textured and coloured backdrops which add a really urban feel to the images, plus being able to walk around during the shoot meant that the small (ish) people didn’t get bored too quickly.
As well as capturing character and a family’s ‘vibe’ during a portrait session, I also aim to take images that are interesting to look at and will look great on a wall in their home. Lots of colour and good contrast between the colours in a photograph make an image eye catching and a looks great on canvas.
This was a really fun photo shoot, which I’m sure you can see from the photos. I work in a very relaxed way, not too much posing and nothing too cheesy!!! People look their best and at their most ‘natural’ when they’re feeling comfortable in front of the camera, often this means I get the happiest shots towards the end of a shoot.
