How adorable is this little guy with his Mom and Dad? I went to their home for their lifestyle newborn baby photoshoot when little Levi was just 10 days old.
The tiny man did give us a bit of a run for our money, it took quite a while to get him settled down so he could be posed for photos, but once he started to cooperate, he was an absolute star, as you can see from this very smiley portrait.
Newborn babies are quite unpredictable, so timing a shoot around their sleeps and feeds isn’t really an option. I always allow plenty of time for a baby shoot so newborns can be fed and soothed if necessary (more often than not they need to be fed a few times before they will settle) to get the best possible shots.
I like to photograph newborns when they are awake and have their eyes open, this allows for far more animated shots than just having them folded up and sleeping, however it does make posing them slightly more challenging as they very rarely stay still.
The family included two black Labradors, so they were also added into a few shots. These boys were only interested in treats, so once those got put away, they pottered off into the garden.
The optimum time to take newborn portraits is within the first 10 to 14 days of a baby’s arrival. Please contact me to find out more about booking your own lifestyle newborn baby shoot at home.
