There’s nothing quite like a twin newborn shoot to keep me on my toes. Negotiating with one newborn baby can be quite a challenge, let alone two. This brother and sister arrived 4 weeks ahead of schedule, so as soon as they were home, I headed through with my camera to shoot their very first set of portraits.
Having spent a few weeks in hospital they were in a good routine which meant timing the shoot around feeds was easy, so they didn’t need to be topped up during the photo session. They both insisted on staying awake for the shoot so our dreams of beautiful Pinterest inspired curled up sleeping baby pics were shattered, but let’s face it, capturing facial expressions and some character is much better anyway.
This is the third shoot I’ve done with Sasha and Nic and not the first time we’ve experienced Pinterest reality VS actual reality when it comes to taking inspiration from online pics. During their baby announcement shoot, we had lots of laughs with some large foil letter balloons – take a look here.
Thankfully the babies cooperated far better than the foil balloons and we managed to get a beautiful collection of portraits of them individually, together and as a family.
Ten tiny and very wriggly toes.
Not long after I got this shot, the tears started, indicating that it was time to wrap things up.
Little Miss was very interested in what was going on, her brother not so much.
When babies cry, this is the perfect pose.
