Family portraits at Delta Park with two senior Beagle girls

Sometimes old dogs are calm, doddery and a bit fragile. Not Carla and Max. Aged 13 and 15 respectively, these Beagle girls did not get the ‘you’re old, time to behave’ memo and provided me with an entertaining afternoon at Delta Park.

Carla is missing an eye after having glaucoma last year, but that doesn’t stop her from galavanting around like a puppy and barking until she gets snacks.

Max was adopted two years ago, she didn’t have the greatest life before she joined her forever family and uses that as an excuse to do whatever the hell she wants.

These golden girls are actually so naughty, it’s hard to believe that they are geriatric. At home they have to be locked out of the kitchen with a baby gate because they love to team up and tip the dustbin over and scatter the rubbish all over the house. Their mom showed me shocking photos of the evidence, LOL.

Carla’s eyesight may not be 20/20 but her nose works just fine.

I love seeing how much happiness dogs bring to their families. Max and Carla are the light of their Mom and Dad’s lives and I know these photos will be so special to them in the years to come.

Snacks were used to get the girls into the flowers, can you tell?

This shot took several attempts. Max kept disappearing left and Carla kept going right.

Getting the girls together for a portrait was actually quite easy (we had biltong) but this is apparently a non-standard shot because they never follow instructions or sit nicely next to each other. Max and Carla are literally the old ladies who cause havoc in a retirement home. Absolutely brilliant!
