Dog Portrait Photographer – Centurion studio
Three little cuties came for a visit two weeks ago to have their portraits captured in the studio. This is Harvey who is a rescue Dachshund. He was a very good boy and sat beautifully for me.

This is Phoebe, she’s her Mom’s only non-rescue Daxie and she gave me a run for my money. As you can see, Phoebe had quite a bit to say about her doggy photoshoot, I attempted to translate and I got the following, ‘not in my contract’, ‘where’s the freshly prepared chicken you promised’ and ‘I hope this photographer knows what she’s doing’. I don’t usually shoot portraits when the subject is mid-sentence, it’s not terribly flattering, but dogs don’t really have bad angles and this gives you a good idea of what life as a dog portrait photographer is like.

Pippa was much more compliant, however I had to tell a small lie when she asked me if her ears looked big.

Phoebe and Harvey. I think you can see who rules the roost here. Madam decided to stand when she was asked to sit.

I almost cracked open the champers when we got this shot. It took several attempts and we had to move the dogs from the floor to a box to keep them together and contained. The biltong snack items prevailed however 🙂

Mom had specifically commissioned me to shoot photographs of the dogs to go on the wall at home. I shot portraits against both white and black backgrounds for her so she has a variety of images from which to decide. The two looks are incredibly striking and totally different, I actually don’t know which I’d choose.

Phoebe was getting a bit tired towards the end of the shoot so she barked less, however she didn’t get tired of the snacks. This is her ‘I love biltong’ look.

I love this shot, it was a perfect way to end a really fun studio shoot.
