Boston Terrier Studio: Two Brothers and Their New Baby Sister
There’s something especially entertaining about photographing Boston Terriers. Those enormous eyes, magnificent ears and highly expressive little faces make it almost impossible for them to conceal what they’re thinking.
This recent Boston Terrier studio photography session featured not one, but three of them: two grown-up boys and their brand-new baby sister.
She may have been the smallest member of the family, but she certainly didn’t lack presence.

Welcoming a New Puppy to the Family
Bringing a new puppy home changes the dynamic of any household. There’s excitement, an adjustment period and, in this case, two older brothers learning to accommodate a small new sister with plenty of personality.
A professional dog portrait session is a wonderful way to mark the arrival of a new puppy and capture the beginning of the relationship between the dogs. Puppies grow and change ridiculously quickly, so these early portraits become especially meaningful as the years pass.
The aim of this session was to create individual portraits of all three Boston Terriers, as well as photographs of them together.
Getting three dogs to cooperate simultaneously is always an interesting creative challenge, especially when one of them is a busy baby, but patience, treats and a sense of humour prevailed and if I’m honest, the baby was the best behaved of the lot….

Character-Filled Boston Terrier Portraits
One of the things I love most about studio dog photography is having the opportunity to focus entirely on each dog’s character.
With a simple studio backdrop and no distracting scenery, the expressions, poses and relationships between the dogs take centre stage. Every little head tilt, curious glance and moment of interaction becomes part of the story.
The two boys already had their own established personalities, while their new sister brought plenty of puppy energy to the session. Together, they made a fabulous little trio.
Dogs don’t need to be perfectly trained or able to sit motionless to be photographed successfully. I work in short bursts and use treats, toys, noises and a variety of other shameless forms of bribery to capture the images I need.

Turning Dog Portraits into Wall Art
Beautiful photographs deserve to be seen and enjoyed, which is why my studio portrait collections are designed around professionally produced artwork.
Whether you choose one statement portrait or a coordinated collection, the result is something far more lasting than another set of photographs disappearing into your phone.
