Delta Park Family photographer

Little humans and dogs, my favourite subjects to photograph. The majority of people seem to think I’m joking when I tell them what I spend the majority of my time photographing. I’d be lying if I told you that children and animals aren’t a challenge on occasions (I have had the odd really tricky customer) but the joy for me lies in the resulting images.

In fact, this shoot seemed so crazy (think wriggling children, lots of funny faces and a dog who wanted to disappear into the undergrowth) that the grown ups weren’t sure if there would be any usable pictures…..

It’s all about capturing the moments in between the chaos, I think we could quote Henri Cartier-Bresson here and go as far as suggesting that the non-crazy shots are the ‘decisive moments’ in a family photo shoot.

And that the full on loony moments are the un-edited reality, which I also love to document. Whilst images like the one above probably won’t make it onto a wall, they are super cute and fun memories from the shoot.

Getting children to smile naturally and not pull a ‘cheese’ face often requires parents to publicly humiliate themselves behind the camera.

Well worth the effort in this case, because the alternative here was an ‘Incredible Hulk’ face which would not have looked good on the wall at home.

Diesel the dog didn’t need anyone to make a fool of themselves to pose, he simply required a regular supply of snacks.

And voila, gorgeous portraits captured amongst that chaos that is family life.

I’ll let you into a secret here. The face pulling whilst running was so spectacular (the more we all laughed, the more the tongue came out) that I sent the small people off in the opposite direction. I knew I’d get a cute ‘siblings holding hands’ shot and it didn’t matter one little bit what Mr Entertainment was doing with his face.
