Earlier this year I was commissioned by Dotsure to shoot some pet portraits for their new website and media campaign. Rather excitingly the remit was to include rescue animals (a cause very close to my heart) of all varieties.
I love a Great Dane, however manoeuvring Charlie, a creature the size of a small horse, into the studio proved interesting. His little friend Addi who’d come along for the ride managed to sneak into this shot too, making Charlie look even bigger! We’re fixated on snacks here.
Tango is an SPCA adoptee who found herself in need of a home after failing the test to become an SAPS narcotics dog. Apparently to sniff out drugs, one needs an attention span longer than 2 seconds.
The Border Collies smashed the sit, stay, focus, pose part of the shoot 🙂

Dora Dog, one of my dogs managed to get a chance at stardom. I’ve got six dogs and they all know that if they sit in the middle of the studio and look cute, they’ll get treats.
Dotsure are the only South Africa pet insurance company to cover exotic pets like Richard. This guy is also one of my rescues, he enjoys posing for photos and he’s very pleased to now be a famous parrot.
