A lifestyle photography session with Dune Spence-Ross in Paarl, Cape Town

Meet the very lovely, insta-celeb that is Dune. I photographed Dune and her three pups; Bamboo, Charming and Quinn at Cascade Country Manor in Paarl not too long ago for a Pet Prints Magazine cover feature.

Dune is a proud rescue dog mom to three Pitbulls, a passionate vegan and a lifestyle coach in the field of health and wellness (I kept quiet about my love of chips, coffee and gin…)

I won’t give away all the details of the dogs’ rescue stories, you can read all about where Dune adopted her dogs in the latest issue of Pet Prints Mag, needless to say I had a ball photographing them all.

Cascade Country Manor was a fabulous venue for this lifestyle photoshoot. They have olive groves, a waterfall and beautiful trees, so I was a bit spoilt for location choices.

Dune would probably say that she doesn’t have a favourite dog, but I’m going to suggest that perhaps Mr Charming has a particular soft spot in her heart. He’s the oldest of her three dogs and got the most kisses during the shoot.

There was some discussion as to whether or not we’d manage to get all three pitties into one shot on their own (please people, have we met) so with the help of three assistants and Dune, I present to you from left to right – Charming, Quinn and Bamboo…..

The cover shot is always the most important part of a magazine shoot and again, it took three assistants to get the dogs to look into the camera so I could get the shot we needed. The temptation to trot off and explore was very much a reality for the dogs, so as usual, we relied upon the power of the snack to help get the job done.

Pet Prints is a free magazine dedicated to all things animal welfare related. You can pick up a copy in your local vet or vet shop or drop the PP team a line here to get your paws on a copy.
