Portraits of a family of four photographed in Rosebank, Johannesburg
I’ve been photographing this family since the oldest small human was a baby bump. We’ve shot maternity portraits, newborn photos and family pics regularly over the past few year and it’s honestly so lovely to be able to document the kids growing up.
We opted for an urban vibe for the shoot and chose to meet in Rosebank with the aim of also including some of the magnificent Johannesburg jacaranda trees in the background (please refer to the top image for this).
The beauty of an outdoor family shoot in a city location is the variety of different backdrops. In just an hour or so, we got a huge number of really cool portraits.
I’ve found that small people like to be on the move, so being able to shoot some portraits then break with a walk to a different spot kept them both happy.
Previously we’ve shot portraits in studio, at home and at Delta Park, so a family photoshoot in Rosebank added a completely different vibe to the previous sets of pics.
Once the smiles started to wane and the clouds rolled in, we wrapped up.
