Mini dog shoots photographed at 44 Stanley, Johannesburg in collaboration with OOBU

‘Dogs are not our whole lives, but they make our lives whole.’ – Roger Caras
At the end of last year, I was commissioned by pop up dog shop OOBU to photograph a series of doggy mini shoots at the fabulous 44 Stanley shopping precinct in Johannesburg.

The response was phenomenal and I had the great pleasure of photographing more than twenty five dogs over the course of four days. I’m sharing a few of my favourite images in this post, but honestly I could fill the whole website with portraits from these shoots.

There were Spaniels, Bulldogs, Great Danes, Bassetts, Cairn Terriers, Labradors, Yorkies, Dachshunds, a Pug, Jack Russells, German Shepherds and a delightful collection of mixed breed rescue mutts who came to 44 Stanley for shoots.

The Joburg summer weather gave me a run for my money with some rather unexpected rain showers, but on the bright side (pun intended), it meant that we didn’t all roast during the photoshoots and I managed to create a huge variety of different shots.

As you can imagine, we also went through a lot of snacks.

I love photographing dogs, because I love dogs (obviously) and because I love creating beautiful photographs for other dog owners. I shared a post recently about a family whose dog passed away just a few days after our shoot (she was unwell, so it was expected) and those photographs are so incredibly special to them because even though their beloved Labrador isn’t with them any more, they always have the images to remember her by. You can see view that post here.

If you’re keen to commission some portraits of your own pooch, please get in touch with me here. I offer a limited number of mini shoots each month as well as more comprehensive packages including wall art and story books.

Humans and families are always welcome to participate in a shoot too 🙂
