Studio and location lifestyle photography for a Johannesburg based dog bed brand

A day of photographing dogs is a day well spent as far as I’m concerned, so I was thrilled when Badoodoo asked me to photograph their brand new range of dog beds at the Light Station Studio in Bryanston. Their range includes quite a variety of bed styles and sizes, so, as you will see, the dog model range was equally as varied.

Thankfully our dog models were 90% cooperative when asked to sit on a bed and work the camera. Vinny had clearly read his modelling 101 handbook before the shoot.

Sage was more than happy to pose in exchange for tasty bribes.

Frankie had no trouble channeling her inner Cindy Crawford either.

Lifestyle brand photography doesn’t just start and end for me on the day of the shoot, I also consult with brands on the objective of the shoot, the exact images we need and how we’re going to fulfil their brand values & style with the photographs I take. We decided to choose specific breed dog models to ensure the sizes of the beds were accurately depicted in the photographs, making life far easier for prospective shoppers.

Jomo was our exception, Badoodoo ran a competition to source their dog models and despite the fact that we knew we needed specific dogs for the shoot, we couldn’t turn this gorgeous rescue boy down. I mean, just look at him.

Tina and Gemma were the last models for the day and what fun we had getting them to sit still for a nano second! It took five of us, but eventually they sat together for this shot before darting off in different directions.
