A pregnancy photo session shot on location in Johannesburg including the family pets

My business tag line is ‘photography for people whose dogs are family’. This also includes cats and other pets 🙂 If your pets are a big part of your life, why not include them in a photoshoot?

As this session starred a cat, one nervous rescue dog, one crazy Staffy and a busy German Shepherd, I went to the couple’s beautiful home for the maternity photoshoot.

Lily here was adopted from Sandton SPCA and is very wary of new people, so patience was key to get her into shots.

Despite being a nervous dog, she was very keen to be in pretty much every photo, I think she was keeping a close eye on her mom.

Resident cat Loki was not impressed with my arrival. He’d been shut in the master bedroom in anticipation of the photoshoot so he didn’t go awol.

Once he was let out, he strolled around like a tiger.

The session wasn’t all about the animals, after all, it was a maternity photoshoot so the bump needed an equal amount of limelight.

When balls are life, this is the kind of expressions one gets when photos are being taken instead of balls being thrown.

We managed to get Apollo to sit still momentarily for a pic. This guy has a hare lip which I think adds to his charm.

For more information about booking your own maternity photoshoot (with or without your pets) please get in touch with me here. Timing is crucial with pregnancy photos and I recommend booking your shoot for when you are between 34 and 37 weeks along.
