Pregnancy photoshoot on location in Johannesburg

The remit for this shoot was a maternity shoot with the two dogs at Delta Park. What actually ended up happening was a photo shoot that revolved around keeping the dogs out of the mud, then avoiding muddy dogs, then washing said dogs, with sporadic intervals of maternity portraits when we could all stop laughing at the dogs.

Mac managed to hold things together pretty well, his bandana stayed clean for the first 10 minutes and he even sat with his parents for a photo or two without too much coercion.

Here he is, still clean.

His sister, on the other hand, sought out the foulest, blackest, stinkiest mud whilst we were busy taking photos and proudly came running back to us looking like this.

The mud attracted bits of grass and twigs to really add to her outfit redesign. Needless to say, the bandanas were wrecked and the dogs got temporarily sidelined so we could focus on capturing some maternity portraits.

What you can’t see here is the mud monster rampaging around just out of shot.

The hounds were then escorted to the spruit for a rinse off before getting into the car to go home.

Which made for some super fun and candid photos.

I love including dogs (and other pets) in maternity shoots, so do get in touch if a shoot with your four legged friends is on your to-do list.
