A spectacularly fun collaboration between Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream, Friendship Collar South Africa and I, featuring studio photography of dogs looking stylish and enjoying ice cream.

Photographing dogs wearing Friendship collars and eating special doggy ice cream was as much fun as it sounds. I collaborated with Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream and Friendship Collar SA to create this set of colourful and vibrant images to advertise both products and jazz up the walls of the PHIC Parkhurst shop. I’m also very excited to add that these images won first place in the commissions category of the Rangefinder Creatures Competition.

Our dog models had a mixed reaction to the PHIC doggy Ice Cream STIX. This is Bacon the Pug who wasn’t quite sure what to do with his ice cream because he was far too concerned with bouncing around the studio (I dread to think how much more lively he would have been after an ice cream). At every opportunity available he was sitting on a lap and giving out hi-fives. We are still not sure if he ever actually sleeps.

Chelsea the Boston decided to sing to her ice cream.

Here she is with her brother Oreo looking fabulous in the ‘White on Trend’ collar.

Tiny Mila the miniature poodle was very delicate with her ice cream before posing with her siblings in their denim collars.

Little dogs are far easier to manoeuvre than larger hounds, the poodles are very well trained which was a huge help in capturing this shot. I am too afraid to even try and imagine how this shot would pan out with four big dogs.

Kenzi with her Weimaraner focus attempted to use her superpowers to lick the ice cream.

Whilst her sister Molly used it as a nose rest.

Sophisticated Sophie insisted on posing alone because she didn’t want the ice cream to detract from her fabulousness (She is a very impressive looking dog). I’ve not worked with Afghan Hounds before and they really do have minds of their own. I’m not sure how one manages to keep them looking neat, I have enough trouble with my own hair.

Fergie colour coordinated perfectly with this collar and bracelet set. She’s a very tiny Italian Greyhound and is always prim and proper so she refused to eat the ice cream, especially when there were photos being taken. It’s unladylike to be photographed when one is eating.

Cruiser had no problem with eating in front of us all and he tucked into his ice cream with gumption. I’d like to add that I did attempt to include Fashion Hound AKA Jane in this shoot. She ate three ice creams in a row before I could even attempt to get a shot. Here’s her contribution to the proceedings. So much for models not eating, LOL.
