Rescue dog portrait photography with a fun twist!

For the 2023 Sushi & Panda Foundation calendar, I decided to keep things super fun and animated! With the help of some peanut butter (dog friendly of course) and Gizzls treats, this year’s set of dog portraits is all about in the moment facial expressions.

Meet Sushi, one half of the duo behind the Sushi & Panda Foundation. The foundation was created in 2017 by Frenchie mom Megan to help improve the lives of South Africa’s township animals. S&P run regular sterilisation and vaccination outreach programmes as well as operating a permanent veterinary clinic in Touws River Township in Cape Town. Sushi is a puppy raiser of note and always steps in to help with bottle babies.

Meet Panda, the other half of the duo.

All the dogs that feature in the calendar have been rescued and rehomed by the Sushi & Panda Foundation. This is Waffles, she was surrendered as part of an unwanted litter from Musina. As you can see, she very much enjoyed the peanut butter.

Bailey was being sold as a tiny pup on a street corner.

Lily and Molly were both surrendered after their previous owners no longer wanted them. Molly’s owners were relocating and couldn’t take her with and Lily was dumped at the Sushi & Panda clinic in Touws River.

Baci was possibly the most compliant of all the dogs, even though she as the youngest. She sat beautifully waiting for treats and peanut butter. She and her siblings were dropped of at the Touws River clinic as tiny pups.

Finn was being given away on a Facebook group along with his siblings when the S&P team stepped in to responsibly rehome them all.

Pikachu came to S&P after they assisted in rehoming a litter of Pekes in need. He has since found a marvellous home.
