Photographs from an ‘At Home’ lifestyle shoot

Spending so much time in my own home during lockdown with just my dogs to photograph has inspired me to take a slightly more relaxed approach to the work I create.

I ventured into the realm of shooting candid portraits of my dogs to keep myself busy and I’ve loved the freedom of working with whatever light there is and photographing the dogs doing whatever they happen to be doing in that particular moment. Now I’ve extended this style of photography to my clients.

Often our most memorable and fun moments with our animals and kids are when we’re just hanging out together. Documentary style sessions, like this one, are all about creating a visual journal of these moments.

I spent an afternoon with Lisa, Floki & Rocket to photograph them at home doing their thing. The dogs played, slept and interacted with their Mom as they would on any other day, I was simply there to photograph their time together.

When we think about what we love most about our dogs and kids, it’s the quirky little things they do at home. The way they play together with a blanket on the bed, or the way they sit on the couch. We might snap these pictures on our phones, but they’re not moments we would think to commission professional photographs of and often we’re not actually in the pictures!

So, if the idea of chilling on your own space and having a morning or afternoon with your dogs or kids, photographed in a more relaxed style than a more formal portrait shoot, appeals to you, please get in touch with me.

Documentary style ‘At Home’ sessions include a coffee table book of your favourite images and I’m currently running a special on these shoots which you can book here.
