With the addition of four dogs and a two year old, shot on location in Johannesburg

It was newborn photography session number two for this fabulous family when a new little girl arrived in the middle of August. I had lots of fun photographing them all (four dogs included) back in 2018 – you can see the first shoot here and their latest shoot didn’t disappoint either.

Lifestyle photography is really the only option when you’re working with a two year old and a newborn. Rarely do small humans, age two, sit still, so we literally let her do her own thing and I captured all the moments that unfolded.

A pensive moment watching birds on the lawn. Shortly after this shot I was invited out into the garden to look at said birds.

The executive decision to not attempt to get the dogs in the family shots this time round was the correct one, I rather enjoy chaotic family photoshoots, however I’d probably still be at the house attempting to get a shot with all four dogs in it too.

I love this candid moment! I think the conversation went something along with lines of, ‘please come and sit for a second with your sister,’ followed by a giggling, ‘NO’.

When the birds in the garden became far more interesting than the photoshoot, we had a few moments of calm to concentrate on the latest addition. It was after all supposed to be her shoot…

As long as they are warm, fed and comfortable, newborns are generally quite easy to work with. My photographs are pretty natural which makes life far easier for babies and parents. My focus is capturing gorgeous family interactions and making sure everyone has fun in the process.

I think we got a little smile here.

And a bonkers static hair moment here which pretty much sums the morning up.

I love photographing families with two and four legged children (both together are especially appealing to me), so if you’d like to have beautiful, natural and fun lifestyle photographs of your family taken, please drop me a line here.
